Hi! I am a journalism student at the University of Georgia with a minor in business and certificates in new media and news literacy. My experience at UGA can be described in three words – busy, but fun. Starting college in 2020 was nothing short of hectic, but I found a way around it, quickly getting involved in my sorority and The Red & Black – Athens’ independent, student-run newspaper. There, I covered student government and breaking news while also serving as the assistant news editor the summer after my freshman year.
As a student journalist, I am committed to telling the stories of marginalized communities, ensuring their voices are heard and holding those in power accountable. To me, listening to the stories of underrepresented communities and properly telling them is crucial to the health of all communities, making them more empathetic and well-rounded.
After working at The Red & Black, I quickly transferred my talents to my current job as a public relations student assistant at UGA’s College of Pharmacy, where I create the weekly newsletter, the PharmDawg Weekly, help with website updates, write stories about College events and make digital graphics that are displayed on the building’s multiple televisions.
Upon graduation in May, I am seeking roles in digital media, public relations and/or communications. I am proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, MailChimp, Sprout Social and basic, front-end coding (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
In my free time, I love taking walks, going to yoga, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family.
